fixing Elie's hips

It had finally arrived.  The appointment that I was simultaneously wanting to come and dreading.  We were scheduled to go weeks ago but then we got another dumping of snow.  We couldn't drive out to the clinic that day and so the appointment was cancelled.  A few more weeks to delay the inevitable.  A few more weeks to not have to make any decisions.

But now the day had come.  The four of us girls waited for the doctor to come in and speak the words that would determine which way the dominoes of our life would start to fall.  I wasn't in the mood to play games, but when you are sitting for multiplying minutes in a doctor's office entertaining your three children is not a choice but a necessity.  We have a game we play while we wait for doctors called "Brown Bear, Brown Bear".  Much like Simeon Says and guaranteed to help with the wiggles.   Elie and Faith had a great time and London enjoyed the show.  But the doctor was running behind and on this day even brown …

a new song

We live in a world of constant motion.  There are so many things that scream for our attention.  Some of the noises are needs that we need to pay attention to.  But there are so many, many noisy distractions that get in the way of what is truly important.

My daughter is currently in love with the book, "The Grinch that Stole Christmas".   There is a line where the Grinch complains..."oh the noise, noise, noise, noise".   Lately, when I have read this story with my daughter, I felt I could relate to the Grinch.  My life was too noisy.  I could no longer separate the good noise from the bad noise.  It was all just overwhelming my thoughts and my emotions.  My soul was bleeding and I was in desperate need for a time out.
Have you ever felt like that?  Maybe you are going through a season like that right now.  One where you feel Dry. Angry. Overwhelmed. Exhausted.  Confused.  Hurt. Lonely. When you pray do you come away without peace?  Take this as your warning sign…

yummy. healthy. easy. food. - On Guard Sweet Potato Muffins (gluten free)

First you need to know I am not a gourmet cook.  At all.  But I do LOVE food.  And I love to try new recipes and come up with new ideas for feeding my family.  I feed 6 people at least three times a day.... with Baby Lulu now joining in the eating game that will be 7 people.  We like healthy, real food but we are also on a budget of money and time.  So in our house a recipe has to be... 1. Delicious    2. Inexpensive   3. Few ingredients    4. Real, Healthy food

I hope to share on this blog some of the yummy things that help feed our family.... Here is recipe number one:  Gluten Free Sweet Potato Muffins  with On Guard (doTERRA essential oil)
(I like to bake a 9x13 full of sweet potatoes.  Use some for dinner as a side.  Slice some up and add to soups or salads.  And then use some for these delicious muffins.)

1/2  cup dark brown sugar
1/2 cup pure cane sugar
