Family Fun & Surgery Update

Our little girl continues to grow and change everyday. She had her 15 month check up earlier this week and has moved from the 3% to the 25% for height and weight. It is truly amazing the changes we have seen in her in the past two months. Her latest accomplishments include shaking her head no, climbing up and down the stairs and holding her own cups. She is so close to walking and practically runs when you hold her hands. The boys adore her and they are both great big brothers. I have a lot of help this time around.

Our dear friends blessed us by giving us a week at their beach house. What a gift!! It was wonderful to get away from the day to day and have some uninterrupted time to bond together as a family. We all love the beach and Faith did great on vacation. The big highlight of the week was Kody learned to ride a two wheel bike! When he took off down the road I have to admit this mama cried. I was so proud of him.

We also played mini golf for the first time which was a blast! I would like it noted that I tied my husband with a baby strapped to my back.

The moment we have been waiting for has arrived. On Tuesday Faith will have her surgery to remove the cyst on her head. Her surgery is scheduled for 7:30am. We expect to spend one night in the hospital. The cyst is in a tricky place because it is right over an open fontanelle (a baby's soft spot) and her superior sinus. We love her neurosurgeon and have confidence in his ability to remove this. And above that we trust that God will carry her through this procedure. He has already worked so many miracles in her life and we trust Him for the outcome of this next step. It is still scary though knowing that our baby's head is going to be cut open.

She had all her preop blood work done on Wednesday. They had to check her blood type and prepare some donor blood for her in case she needs a transfusion. The boys were so concerned about her, it is very sweet how much they love her. Thank you for all of you who have called and written to let us know that you are praying for her next week.

  1. Sonya,
Loved reading your updates and just laughed about the "boys' world" thing. I'm already telling the boys to keep their Star Wars Legos off the floor so Caris doesn't put them in her mouth!! Ahhh...so fun.
Will be praying for surgery on Tuesday; Conor and Garrett start school that day, so it will be included in the craziness of that day, but keep us posted on progress after surgery.
Miss you and love you - hope things slow down soon so we can chat!
    Carrie
