A message about Faith

Today I received this incredible message about faith from my dear friend Megan. It is by Andy Richardson. I am so thankful for God's faithfulness to our family, so thankful for my own faith that God placed in my heart as a child and has continue to grow over the years and for our precious daughter Faith who continues to teach us everyday what real faith is. Hope it is also a blessing in your own life.

Fresh Start Day 266

Your faith isn’t your own, you know. The Bible says that Jesus is “the author and finisher of faith” (Hebrews 12:2). That means that He begins it and completes it. He is the One who is writing the story of your faith. He is leading the way for faith to come alive in your life. He is the pioneer blazing the trail for your faith to find its way. Not only that, but He will bring faith to its final completion in your life. He won’t leave the story unfinished, and He will make sure that the ending is a perfect one for you.
  • Pray that you will entrust yourself to Jesus in a new way today.
Faith isn’t a feeling. It isn’t a force like in Star Wars. It isn’t a formula with religious rituals. It isn’t a fantasy or a fable. No, faith is a gift from God that enables you to believe the truth of God and which results in a life that pleases God. And Jesus starts and finishes it all in your life. The apostle Paul put it this way, “God is the One who began this good work in you, and He won’t stop before it is complete” (Philippians 1:6). He doesn’t get tired, and He won’t quit. You're in good hands.

This morning I found myself in yet another medical room with my daughter.  One more specialist, one more opinion, one more door opening to a thousand more questions.  Appointment number three for this week.  Again not anything new for us. lessons of christmas: joseph and mary

In the wonderful busyness that surrounds this time of year it is easy to loose sight of the reason behind all the celebration.  The enormous gift of God.  The sacrifice of love.  The importance of those three words: God With Us.   And so for the days leading up to Christmas, I like to go back to the the original story in the Bible and to try to read it again.  Not as a memorized story, but one that holds new life and meaning.  This year as I have read and reread, I am captivated by Joseph and Mary.  Over and over again the story tells of their obedience resulting from their faith.   God says.  And they do. No hesitation. I believe God chose them because He knew their character.  He knew their love for Him would outweigh any of their fears.  This calling from God put them on a crazy, wild adventure away from the home they had known.  To Bethlehem where Mary would give birth in a cave with animals then fleeing to Egypt to protect their new son's life then

preparing for surgery: a surprise vacation

I LOVE surprises.  Kevin and I often joke that surprises are my love language.  Being the receiver of a surprise is almost as fun as planning one for someone else.  And this is why, a few weeks ago, I found myself wide awake the night before our big adventure. We did not tell anyone we were leaving.  In this world of social media, it really felt like we were sneaking away. There was and is so much to be done before Elie's surgery.  The November 3 date on the calender seems to be rushing at us with lightening speed.  If we went by to do lists we knew we needed to stay home and "get stuff done".   But something else was stirring in Kevin and I.  We needed to get away.  We needed to build a memory for our family that we could think back upon in the coming months.  We needed to spend time together away from the chaos of life.
