A Good Day

It has been a long day.  I am tired. Really, really tired.  But also just so happy.

The pieces continue to fall into place.  We had no problems at the Chinese Embassy today and were able to get both of our visas.  Our experience at Children's Hospital was very encouraging and we are confident in our choice to use their doctors for Elie. We happened to be in the waiting room right when the clown crew came by.  Thanks for that God.  Clown humor can even make this 34 year old giggle.  Our friend, Shawn, owns a hair studio downtown.  We stopped in to say hi and he blessed us with giving Kevin a free haircut.  And I might add,  it was a very good haircut... couldn't keep my eyes off him the rest of the day.  Not sure if it was just the haircut or the fact that watching him work to get Elie home is just so darn attractive.

We have had so many wonderful offers for help, seriously it is just incredible the community that God has blessed us with!!  We definitely do not feel like we are doing this alone!  Special thanks to Julie and Amber for helping with our kids today and getting our donations to the auction house.  And on that note, the auction house accepted all the antiques donated and they are very excited about selling them. In fact they put them center stage.  So anxious to see what they sell for.  A family friend donated them to us to help with our adoption fund.  It will be just in time to help us pay for the remaining in country airline tickets we need to purchase.

We even had time to have a fun lunch at a yummy cafe and then do some clothes shopping for China.  We have been told to prepare for hot, humid, pollution, hot, humid, did I say hot?, weather.  We have heard stories of sweating so much that you look like you have constantly wet your pants.  Elie lives in one of the "furnace" cities of China and this time of year is when the furnace is the hotest.  Everyone who has traveled to adopt during July and August has recommended that we buy some technical clothes to wick away the sweat.  Especially technical underwear.  I am now the proud owner of technical underwear and a shirt that somehow wicks away your sweat and has special fibers so that it never gets stinky.  I told Kevin that I should now be able to wear the same pair of underwear and the same shirt for our entire trip.  He is skeptical.

Many of you have been praying for us and the decision we had to make about whether or not to move Elie back to her original orphanage before we traveled.  The decision presented to us was full of so many unknowns that we had no idea what to say.  And so we did not make any decision about it.  We received word today that she was already  moved back just before her birthday (last tuesday) and they celebrated with a big birthday party for her.  The staff is preparing her for our arrival and they are very excited about us coming.  Those statements are HUGE!  HUGE!!!  My daughter is loved.  So much so that she was given a birthday party.  A birthday party.

What a great day.  Thank you God for a day full of encouragement!!!

11 days until we fly out.  18 days until we see Elie.  29 days until we are home.
