investing in a child

Many people have asked us about the financial costs of adoption. So I have added a list on here of our costs to date. Honestly this is the one area of adoption that is at times hard to swallow. The reality is that there are many fees for both our government and theirs and they begin to really add up. It is truly a walk of faith. We know that God has called us to grow our family through adoption and we know that He will provide for all that is needed, even when at times we can't see exactly how this is all going to work out. It definitly helps to look at our two boys and know that we would pay any amount to have them as our children. It just takes faith to do this process in reverse. As always, I would love to answer any questions you may have about adoption! We are praying that many will chose to grow their families through adoption and give the gift of a forever family to a child.

    We've been working on our adoption, and it can be discouraging at times, already. Not only the money, but when doctors offices aren't cooperative, and no one takes you seriously and thinks you are just annoying when you say the notary's commission can't expire for at least 18 months. I was just thinking about it today like what if my boys were in Haiti, and I couldn't get them back until I did all this, plus a long wait on what they were doing in Haiti. All that money would be nothing...all that paperwork, and frustrations...I would do anything I had to do to get my boys.

This morning I found myself in yet another medical room with my daughter.  One more specialist, one more opinion, one more door opening to a thousand more questions.  Appointment number three for this week.  Again not anything new for us. lessons of christmas: joseph and mary

In the wonderful busyness that surrounds this time of year it is easy to loose sight of the reason behind all the celebration.  The enormous gift of God.  The sacrifice of love.  The importance of those three words: God With Us.   And so for the days leading up to Christmas, I like to go back to the the original story in the Bible and to try to read it again.  Not as a memorized story, but one that holds new life and meaning.  This year as I have read and reread, I am captivated by Joseph and Mary.  Over and over again the story tells of their obedience resulting from their faith.   God says.  And they do. No hesitation. preparing for surgery: a surprise vacation

I LOVE surprises.  Kevin and I often joke that surprises are my love language.  Being the receiver of a surprise is almost as fun as planning one for someone else.  And this is why, a few weeks ago, I found myself wide awake the night before our big adventure. We did not tell anyone we were leaving.  In this world of social media, it really felt like we were sneaking away. There was and is so much to be done before Elie's surgery.  The November 3 date on the calender seems to be rushing at us with lightening speed.  If we went by to do lists we knew we needed to stay home and "get stuff done".   But something else was stirring in Kevin and I.  We needed to get away.  We needed to build a memory for our family that we could think back upon in the coming months.  We needed to spend time together away from the chaos of life.
